Colts QB Anthony Richardson charged with marijuana possession after traffic stop
| Getty Images Anthony Richardson was supposed to be the future of the Indianapolis Colts. The former No. 4 overall pick lost his starting job to Daniel Jones last year, and is now a backup on one of the worst teams in football. Jones has struggled badly this season, leading some to believe Richardson could get another chance. Unfortunately for Richardson, a recent arrest off the field isn’t going to help his chances. Richardson was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession on Friday morning, according to FOX59 in Indy. The charges stem from an Oct. 12 traffic stop when Richardson was pulled over for having expired registration, and officers smelled weed in his car. Richardson told the cops he smoked in the car to avoid doing it in front of his children, and a small mason jar with the flower and THC edibles were found in his possession. Indiana is one of the few states where pot is completely illegal for both recreational and medical use. If Richardson played in Michigan or Illinois, he could buy weed on almost every corner. In Indiana, it gets you arrested. The Colts are on the road the next two games to face the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars before a home date with the Dallas Cowboys. Head coach Shane Steichen is clearly on the hot seat in Indianapolis after GM Chris Ballard was fired earlier this week. The news keeps getting worse for the Colts, and Richardson’s arrest is the latest example.
