Elon Musk says he'll give every child in America a share in SpaceX
Elon Musk took to X to announce his plans to give every child in America a SpaceX share. Elon Musk plans to give a SpaceX share to every US child, covering 72 million kids. SpaceX, founded by Elon Musk, is one of the world's most valuable companies. Details on Musk's SpaceX share giveaway, including eligibility, remain unclear. Elon Musk said Monday he plans to give SpaceX stock to every child in the United States next year. "Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America," Musk wrote in a post on X. "This will be the first of many." SpaceX, founded by Musk in 2002, is one of the world’s most valuable private companies and operates the Starlink satellite internet service as well as launch and spacecraft programs. If Musk did give stock to every child in the US, that would cover roughly 72 million people, and at SpaceX's current share price, represent stock worth about $10.5 billion. Musk did not say how the giveaway would work or who would be eligible. The pledge echoes the Trump administration’s “Trump Accounts” initiative, which gives eligible children investment accounts and a $1,000 federal seed deposit for those born between 2025 and 2028. SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell and her husband had earlier pledged SpaceX shares for more than 2 million children, while Musk had not publicly committed his own shares. It was not immediately clear whether Musk’s proposed giveaway would use those accounts or follow a separate structure. Read the original article on Business Insider
