Jim Nantz injury: Did CBS broadcaster hurt his hand during Raiders-Bills?
Injuries are part of life in the NFL. Including in the broadcast booth, apparently. Late in the first half of Sunday’s game between the Las Vegas Raiders and the Buffalo Bills, analyst J.J. Watt and play-by-play legend Jim Nantz tried to demonstrate a “Peanut Punch,” with Watt holding the football and Nantz applying the punch. It apparently did not go well for Nantz: JIM NANTZ JUST TRIED TO PEANUT PUNCH @JJWatt 🤣 "I did not think you were gonna go that hard" "my wrist is broken" 😭 pic.twitter.com/ocdRBn282r — NFL on CBS 🏈 (@NFLonCBS) October 18, 2026 “That was so much harder than I thought you were going to go,” said Watt. “My wrist is broken,” reported Nantz after throwing the punch, as Watt asked for some ice for his broadcast partner. The broadcast then headed to a commercial break for the two-minute warning. After the halftime break Nantz was back, with his wrist wrapped in the ice pack as Watt asked for: "Physical at times in that first half. Gonna be a few folks having to play hurt the last couple of quarters…" – Jim Nantz holding an ice pack 😅 pic.twitter.com/oY2FpDm6y0 — NFL on CBS 🏈 (@NFLonCBS) October 18, 2026 As you can see, Nantz has his wrist wrapped and mentioned that there are “[g]onna be a few folks having to play hurt the last couple of quarters.” Including the broadcasting legend himself.
