6 Members of South Africa’s Biggest Party Are Killed in Shootings

Six dead weeks before the vote, and the party is still in court over 100 candidates. Politics there has two ballots and only one of them is paper.

The two shootings took place only a few weeks before pivotal, nationwide local elections, and as the party, the A.N.C., is embroiled in a dispute over the eligibility of more than 100 candidates.
