Mike Evans’ checked Seahawks defender’s jersey and asked ‘Who Are You?’ in trash talk masterclass

Mike Evans is new to the rivalry between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks, but he somehow already has one of the best pieces of trash talk in the storied recent history of this matchup. Seattle defensive back Trevon Diggs was talking smack to Evans during the first half of their Week 5 matchup when Evans responded with the nuclear option. As Diggs was chirping away, Evans responded by checking the back of his jersey to send a clear message: I don’t even know who you are, and I don’t care what you have to say. Diggs has some name recognition as an eight-year pro who led the NFL in interceptions with the Dallas Cowboys back in 2021, but he’s not on Evans’ level. This is one of the most disrespectful things I’ve ever seen on an NFL field. It reminds me of when Aqib Talib snatched Michael Crabtree’s chain off his neck. Evans really hit him with the “Who Are You?” before going on with his business. Evans is having a monster game for the 49ers, which makes this even better. He’s over 100 yards and scored the first touchdown of the game. Evans is 33 years old, an age when most receivers have already slowed down, but it feels like he’s still as great as ever. Seahawks-49ers games are always a treat, and trash talk like this makes it even better.
