In 2017, the University of Rochester was in a similar position as Cornell. It hired an ex-Obama lawyer to investigate sex claims behind a media firestorm. She found them false. That set off another round of protests, the school president resigned, and the college paid $10 million to plaintiffs who the lawyer said had no case.
