Ethiopian federal forces control Tigray capital as regional rivals meet in Egypt
Troops loyal to Ethiopia's federal government were patrolling the streets of Mekelle on Sunday, a day after the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) withdrew its forces from the northern city. The government advance came as Ethiopia's regional rivals including Eritrea and Sudan met in the Egyptian coastal city of El-Alamein, calling for regional disputes to be settled through "peaceful means".
