Kenny Gainwell interview: Buccaneers must keep calm to move past 0-3 start

Nobody wants to start winless through three games, and unfortunately for the Bucs they are 0-3 at the moment. Complicating matters is that they are going to be without quarterback Baker Mayfield for a bit due to a thumb injury which means that they will likely be leaning on the ground game. Enter Kenny Gainwell. Gainwell has picked up notoriety throughout his NFL career for the stints he had in Pennsylvania with the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers. This past offseason he chose to sign with the Buccaneers and provide a 1-2 punch with Bucky Irving, and as noted Tampa is going to need that for this upcoming stretch. Recently Kenny was kind enough to join me for a chat about this Bucs season and a handful of other subjects. Gainwell noted that the key is to keep things calm and maintain focus moving forward. You can only climb out of an 0-3 hole one step at a time, and it seems like he is going to help his teammates try and do so. Kenny has a history of being around some great coaches, including a personal favorite of mine in Arizona State’s Kenny Dillingham, so it is clear that his sense of calm comes from having experienced the trials that football can offer. You have to be ready for anything that the game throws your way and it is clear that Kenny is. Hopefully the Buccaneers are, too. In addition to a solid head on his shoulders, Kenny has a great smile to boot. The folks at Oral-B and Crest help make this happen.
