Appendectomy for appendicitis associated with 58% lower colorectal cancer risk than antibiotics alone

Patients who underwent an appendectomy for acute appendicitis had a significantly lower subsequent risk of colorectal cancer than similar patients treated with antibiotics alone, according to new research.
