Buying a stake in a company and improving the company are two very different skills.

Some companies need better distribution. Others need stronger management, clearer accountability, improved sales execution or a more disciplined commercial strategy. In some cases, additional capital may accelerate growth. In others, it may simply allow existing weaknesses to continue for longer.
