Planetary crises deepen global health inequality, paper warns

The global inequality in health opportunities is being further heightened by the triple planetary crisis—climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental pollution. Addressing it is more than a question for health systems; it must be embedded as a central concern in climate and environmental policy. This is being urged by scientists from Heidelberg University whose research focuses, among other things, on global health, environment-related diseases and climate action. They advocate not only countering this inequality at the individual level but also removing its structural causes. In a paper published in the journal Nature Human Behaviour, they explain the approaches required in research and policymaking.
