USA united after 9/11; why unity is now improbable after a seismic event

An analysis of the twenty-five years following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks suggests that five fundamental shifts in media, politics, government trust, and the economy have created a level of national polarization that makes modern unity unlikely.
