Caregivers for people with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder report increased stress and relational strengths
Caregivers of people with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) identified stress levels and emotional health as the factors most negatively affected by their caregiving role. Many experienced limited social support and financial and employment challenges because of their caregiver role. These findings, just published in Alcohol: Clinical and Experimental Research, highlight the need for policies and programs that support families and caregivers of children and adults with developmental disabilities in general, and FASD in particular.
