Apple Planning AI Home Security Camera and Service for 2027
Apple could release a home security system and service in 2027, according to Bloomberg. The company is designing a privacy-forward home security camera that will "use AI to monitor the surrounding environment instead of actual video footage." It will apparently work with a new home security and monitoring service, but no additional detail on the service is included. a camera in the works to go along with it. Early rumors indicated it would be a wireless camera with Siri integration and a connection to the home hub that's in development. HomeKit Secure Video, an Apple Home feature for third-party cameras. HomeKit Secure Video features end-to-end encryption and uses iCloud to securely stream and store video from compatible HomeKit cameras. iOS 27, Apple is upgrading its HomeKit camera features. The Home app is able to generate written summaries for motion alerts, plus it can surface highlights and group footage from different cameras together. The new features require a 2TB or higher iCloud+ plan, while HomeKit Secure Video requires a 50GB plan or better.
