Cam Skattebo wants to bring the Knicks’ winning culture to the NY Giants

I’m our resident Dallas Cowboys person around here, so you know that I am a truly objective person when I say that Philadelphia is a good example of this. Some cities, some places, some communities at large… they react differently to titles. I’m also our resident San Antonio Spurs fan around here so you really know that I’m objective because New York is also a good example of this what with the Knicks just winning the NBA Championship. Geez, I’m so objective. Zooming out of my own personal associations it was very cool to see how New York lit up for its first world title among America’s major sports leagues in the era of social media as we know it. Giants running back Cam Skattebo wants this for Big Blue. Cam is an Arizona State Sun Devil like me, so talking to him finally allowed me to talk about something objectively that brought me joy… until this whole idea came up. “I have seen the negative effects of losing football in New York. You know, obviously I got hurt and I was going through different times than my teammates were… I was battling through injury. They were battling through, you know, losing some games and trying to fight to make it to the next week and be healthy. And, you know, I think over time I’ve been able to see how New York reacts to the negative. And I think this upcoming year I am going to be able to see New York react to the positive. Obviously we’ve seen some of that with the Knicks winning the championship. I was a part of that. That was awesome to be a part of, being able to go to Game 4 and 5 and seeing how the Garden, the people, the places you can go the… the people that buy into winning cultures. And I’m excited to see when we start winning football games who comes around who wants to be a part of this thing and who wants to really show that they’re part of the Big Blue Nation.” Objectively, my word of the day, speaking this is super cool. It is awesome how much Cam wants to be a part of, from his Giants perspective, what he just witnessed with the Knicks. Giants fans have been able to sort of experience this as of late as it was their 2011 title that preceded the Knicks’ in terms of the major ones mentioned, but it is always different when the next one happens (not that I would know as our Cowboys person). As a fellow Sun Devil alum, it has been awesome for me to see how the rest of the world has gotten to experience Cam Skattebo. He was, and remains to be clear, our guy and when that becomes understood by people outside of a bubble you are in the emotion is unique. Even more people are getting to see Skattebo’s personality these days as he has teamed up with State Farm for their “Getting to Know You” campaign. His personality is indeed on display. Every fan’s game, team, traditions, and stakes are personal when it comes to football. State Farm understands it’s personal which is why they create coverage strategies, as Cam outlined, custom-tailored to each and every person. Right now Cam is focusing on making things custom-tailored for the city so nice that they named it twice. Hopefully my Cowboys have something to say about that.
