Baker Mayfield’s 7 goals for the 2026 season
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA - DECEMBER 28: Baker Mayfield #6 of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers warms up prior to an NFL football game against the Miami Dolphins at Hard Rock Stadium on December 28, 2025 in Miami Gardens, Florida. | Getty Images Baker Mayfield is one of the most interesting people throughout the entire NFL. We all know it. At this point I feel like I can speak of him as my Close Personal Friend. We were fortunate to interview Baker at the Super Bowl thanks to our friends at SONIC, and this week Baker, SONIC, and I all doubled down for a return serve. It escapes me how anybody can spend 10 minutes with Baker, which I have done twice now as noted, and not think that this is The Dude for whatever the job in question is. Playing quarterback is one he is uniquely suited to, though. You can watch our entire conversation below. SONIC’s new promotion is their $7 Big Deal Meal which now includes a SONIC Cheeseburger, a Medium Drink (choice of soft drink or iced tea), a choice of Medium Tots or Fries, and a Vanilla Sundae. Talk about a deal. Baker’s part in the promotion is talking about “My Greatest 7” which is obviously a fun play on the whole thing and that a touchdown in football is (assuming the extra point) worth that many points. In that spirit I wanted to ask him for what his 7 goals/aspirations/wants/wishes/etc. for this season were. Here is what he came up with. Win the Super Bowl Win the NFC South (and homefield advantage) Health for the offensive line all season Hope that the new players (draft and free agency)… that their attitude provides an immediate difference Chris Godwin to catch 85-90 passes Josiah Trotter and Ruben Bain… that one could win DROTY Being top 5 in rushing and passing as an offense When I asked Baker this question it was admittedly in some fun, and I stipulated that he could be as wide-ranging as he wanted. I even said “win a game” could be one of the goals. I joked that winning the Super Bowl was implied so couldn’t count, but he’s Baker Mayfield so he does what he wants and started with that. These are all ambitious goals, but they are also all well within the range of possibility in my estimation. Tampa Bay has quietly been one of the more successful teams in the NFL throughout the Baker era there… perhaps this is the year that they tie everything together. Shout out to Baker. Shout out to SONIC. And if you watch the first few minutes of the interview… shout out to UFOs.
