Painful periods during adolescence linked to symptoms years earlier

More than half of girls participating in the long-term U.S. Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study developed painful periods (dysmenorrhea) by age 12 or 13, according to new research published in The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health. Black and Hispanic girls were most likely to be affected.
