This might be the greatest home run robbery in MLB history
There is nothing like a home run robbery to demolish the morale of an opposing team, but what happened on Monday night between the Orioles and Rockies was downright heartbreaking for Colorado. Jake McCarthy of the Rockies thought he had a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth — heck, the entire stadium thought he did a well. A deep shot to center field with a man on, it appeared as though home fans would be rewarded for sitting through a two-hour rain delay. Unfortunately for them, Orioles outfielder Colton Cowser happened. Everything about this robbery wasn’t just picture perfect, it was dang near impossible as Cowser went full Air Jordan on the extension to throw his glove behind his head, over the fence, and just pray the ball would somehow find leather. The announcers couldn’t even believe it at first, and neither could Rockies manager Warren Schaffer, who said the catch was “like a dang knife in the heart” during his post-game interview. Just an absolute stunner, and one of the best catches you will ever see.
