Tariffs Could Bring Canada Auto "To Its Knees"

Fifty percent tariffs on parts that cross the border six times before the car's finished. That's not protectionism, that's an own goal with extra paperwork.

President Trump vowed this week to hike tariffs on Canadian cars, trucks, automotive parts, and steel to 50% at the start of next year as part of an ongoing trade war threat with the country. Linda Hasenfratz, Executive Chair of Linamar, says that after decades of free trade in automotives between he US and Canada, the implementation of such high tariffs would "cripple the industry."
