AFL sanctions Cats for failing to lodge variation to player’s contract Andrew Dillon says league would not accept identical deal lodged today The AFL has punished Geelong for their high-profile “mistakes” in managing head injury risks with a vulnerable player, and has warned an identical waiver to that signed by Geelong and Jake Kolodjashnij will not be accepted if it was lodged today. The league fined the Cats $100,000 on Thursday for failing to inform it of a change to Kolodjashnij’s contract, previously described as a “waiver” by AFL Commission chair and former Cats president Craig Drummond.
